About

Alana’s work is a cross-pollination of theater, dance, illustration. Each discipline informs her deep interest in how narrative adapts to different forms. She refined this approach at the School of Visual Arts, where she earned her MFA in Visual Narrative, focusing her research and practice on the tactile world of stop-motion animation. Her creative practice is defined by a sense of kinetic energy and expressive character design, often grounded in a tactile, playful aesthetic.

Artistic Practice & Craft

Alana integrates varied textures to build immersive, imaginative environments. Her technical toolkit includes:

  • Materiality: Working with felting wool, organic matter, and recycled elements.

  • Character: Designing and building highly expressive puppets.

  • Motion: Using animation to bridge the gap between physical craft and cinematic movement.

Production & Visual Effects

Beyond her personal practice, Alana is a seasoned VFX Production Coordinator with a portfolio that includes:

  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

  • Severance

  • Masters of the Air

  • Drive-Away Dolls (Dir. Ethan Coen & Tricia Cooke)

Currently, Alana serves as a Production Manager and Post Producer at the independent production company Gnarly Bay. In this dual capacity, she bridges the gap between creative vision and technical execution, overseeing projects from onset logistics through the final delivery of post-production.
